Cooking, Gardening, Fishing, Exploring, Teaching amd Family best describe Chef Ron’s story. It begins with cooking for his family at the age of 10 to the present having been responsible for preparing and serving over 22 million meals as a professional chef and entrepreneur. Having lived and worked as a Chef in the PNW, Alaska, Saipan and Hong Kong Chef Ron has learned and appreciated the cultures of peoples and foods.
From 2004-2023, while employed at Forest Ridge School, Chef Ron created a scratch cooked food program serving 100’s of nutritious foods daily to grades 5-12.. Chef Ron developed a safe and dynamic production and teaching kitchen environment that encouraged students and community of all ages to join his team.
Chef Ron and his teams have built, developed and managed a renowned living learnscape program including curriculum and elective based cooking, gardening classes as well as a campus apiary and legacy fruit tree orchard. Students and staff aquired significant life skills while in the kitchen, school gardens, and apiary.
Food Literacy Education
The practice of farm to fork creates an opportunity for students to engage in soil to understand where fresh foods come from.
By growing, harvesting and preparing the bounty of the garden or farm we raise our awareness of the environment and mindful practices to nurture or whole self and community.
Cooking with Kids

Life skills acquired in learning the skills necessary to prepare and cook wholesome foods at a young age can have a profound and lasting positive impact on health and wellness for life.
